How you can use CouchRelay, and how it connects.
Licence
CouchRelay is free for personal, noncommercial use under the PolyForm Strict License 1.0.0. You may not sell it, modify it or redistribute modified copies. It includes open-source components under their own licences, listed in the app and in the download.
Privacy
Game streams travel directly between you and the friends you share with or join. CouchRelay has no accounts or gameplay analytics. Once a day, the app checks for a new version by requesting a small file from the website. You can turn this check off in the app. The hosting provider receives normal connection information, including your IP address, when serving update checks and downloads.
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes requests to deliver and protect the site. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure visits and page views, and separate download statistics to understand how often people get CouchRelay from the website. Website download statistics are intended to exclude in-app update checks and update downloads; they do not identify individual players or measure gameplay.
The website stores your light or dark theme choice locally in your browser.
Third-party software
CouchRelay includes components under their own licences. You can read their notices below, in the app’s Licences screen and in each package’s licences folder.
Third-party source code
CouchRelay uses libraries from FFmpeg under LGPL 2.1 or later, the Decky API connector under LGPL 2.1, and components under MPL 2.0. Their corresponding source code, original licences and build/replacement instructions are available together below.
The libraries can be replaced with interface-compatible modified versions. The kit includes the original library sources and the tools needed to rebuild them.
